Speakers from The Seattle Foundation: Cindy Sharek & Mary Rennekamp
Cindy Sharek
Cindy works with philanthropists and their advisors to provide effective philanthropic strategies that are impactful and align with Seattle Foundation’s commitment to racial equity.
Cindy has nearly 30 years of nonprofit experience in King County. Most recently Cindy served as Interim Executive Director of the King County Library System Foundation where she was an advocate for literacy and learning programs for 12 years. Her background includes development positions in major and planned gifts, special events, grant writing, and corporate relations.
Cindy grew up in Oregon and attended Oregon State University. She serves on the board of A Child’s Notebook, an international nonprofit whose mission is to build schools in rural parts of SE Asia. Cindy is a member of three books clubs, and when she isn’t working you will most likely find her with her nose in a book.
Cindy has been working at Seattle Foundation since 2023.
Mary Rennekamp
Mary leads the strategy and integration of all the Seattle Foundation work to ensure we are creating sustainable relationships between our fundholders and community partners.
Mary Rennekamp has worked in philanthropy for almost 20 years in both New Orleans and Seattle building an extensive and successful background in developing diverse and sustainable philanthropic programs focused on individual, corporate, and foundation strategies spanning arts, science, youth advocacy organizations, and in private philanthropy. She derives joy connecting organizations and philanthropy to engage in dialog to understand the needs, and then drive resources to ultimately create thriving communities.
She holds her BA in theatre and public relations from Loyola University of New Orleans and has served on the boards of Friends of the Children chapters, the Adoptee Mentoring Society, and held numerous other committee and advisory roles in other organizations. Mary lives in Seattle, Washington with her dog, Zelda Fetchgerald, and enjoys great food, good music, and extensive travel.
Mary joined Seattle Foundation in 2023.
